Bejewelled in Warcraft

On a random note this week, we've discovered that online flash game phenomenon Bejewelled will be taking Azeroth by storm.

That's right, you read correctly, publisher Popcap announced last month on Pocket Gamer that they would be recreating the famed game via an addon to be played within the WoW interface. Puzzling as it may be that players paying upwards of £8 a month to play a highly polished and well thought-out online game would spend any length of time playing a flash game they could engage in for free, we can almost see the point. It sometimes involves random periods of downtime (say, waiting for players to come online or recovering from ressurection sickness) that might push you towards logging off, but a little timewaster like this could be just what the game needs to keep people logged on.

Depending on wether they give it a WoW tint or just keep it as it is, we could be quite up for this. There are ample useful and highly functional addons for the game, and it's nice to see a company thinking outside the box and giving gamers something they can use as a gamer, not a player.

Single thumbs up for now, perhaps two depending on how it works in reality.
